st. LOUIS (AP) — Robert Thomas’ goal 28 seconds into overtime capped off the St. Louis comeback as the Blues beat the Calgary Flames 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Thomas’ game winner came in a one-time Oddman Rush with Jordan Cairo.
Thomas appeared to give the Blues a little over five minutes lead in the third period, but the goal was swept away for offside after Calgary’s challenge.
Kyrou had 1 goal and 2 assists, Pavel Buchnevich had 1 goal and 1 assist and Nikita Aleksandrov also scored. Jordan Binnington made 28 saves.
St. Louis, who started the homestand in seven games throughout the season, improved to 8-8-2 at the Enterprise Center this season.
Andrew Manjapane scored goals and assists in the Flames’ first multi-point game since December 10th.
Milan Lucic and Mikael Backlund also scored for the Flames, but lost for the third time in their last four games. Jacob Markstrom recorded his 23 saves.
The Blues closed the 1-3 deficit with two goals in 28 seconds early in the third set. Aleksandrov started the rally by rebounding off a Steven Santini shot at the 2:20 mark and Kylo followed with a lister from the high slot.
Buchnevich’s power play goal gave the Blues the lead at the 3:50 mark of the first period. Buchnevic’s shot hit the stick of Flames defenseman Chris Tanev.
Lucic evened the game with his fourth goal of the season with 6:16 left in the first, tipped by a perfect feed from Nazem Kadri.
Backlund gave the Flames a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later with Nikita Zadrov’s shot.
Manjapane added to Calgary’s lead in the 62nd second of the second period, scoring 11 goals in a drought.
sudden return
Kadri is back in St. Louis for the first time since last season’s memorable playoff series as a member of the Colorado Avalanche. A clash between Kadri and Binnington in Game 3 ended Binnington’s season, with Kadri scoring four goals and two assists for St. Louis as the Avalanche eliminated the Blues in six games.
Notes: The Blues placed D Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) on the disabled list and recalled D Mitri Samorkov from AHL affiliate Springfield on Monday.
