Knoxville, Tennessee (WVLT) – Knoxville’s status as a football town grows day by day with the continued development of the city’s professional football team, One Knoxville SC, and the introduction of a new league for younger players. Growing up.

The National Premier Soccer League and the Women’s Premier Soccer League announced Tuesday that the 865 Alliance has joined the league as an expansion team.

“NPSL welcomes the 865 Alliance and is pleased to add Knoxville as one of the major cities in the southeast of the country,” said NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera. “We continue to grow the sector and the addition of the 865 Alliance is an important foundation for our development. We are strong and have a fanbase eager to embrace a local team.”

The club will be led by Chairman John Schneider and Vice Chairman Josh Gray.

“The history and high level of NPSL and WPSL make them such a great choice for our program,” said Schneider. “There are so many strong conferences and teams in the league that give fans the chance to watch some of the best football in the United States. will give you the chance to go home after college and represent our community from your own backyard.”

Schneider himself had a storied coaching career, winning 17 state championships and leading teams to the state finals nine times. In addition, Schneider was named Coach of the Year by the Tennessee Football Association for his accomplishments.

865 Alliance was founded in 2008 as a merger of several Knoxville clubs, making it the city’s largest youth club. Since 2010, more than 500 players have turned to college football and several graduates continue to play professionally.

“Our youth programs have grown tremendously over the past decade,” said Schneider. “We have been very lucky to have so many great players coming through our system. Many have gone on to college football and beyond. and returning to the WPSL team.I believe having a local player will bring in a big turnout and an exciting atmosphere.There is a lot of participation in the league and it will energize everyone and It has become a desirable destination for our top players Our home games are more than just games, they are events.

The club will start playing league games in 2023.
