Two Duke basketball great brothers, Memphis Grizzlies point guard Tyus Jones and San Antonio Spurs point guard Tre Jones, battled Monday night in the Grizzlies’ 121-113 home victory. It was the first time each of the Jones brothers gave their first nod to one of the meetings. And it’s safe to say that both were disappointed.
They both led their respective teams in points and assists.
Tyus Jones, the 2014-15 one-and-done national champion with the Blue Devils, had 24 points, 6 assists and 3 steals in 35 minutes of action for the Grizzlies (27-13). He has averaged 10.8 points and 4.8 assists per game this season and started in place of Jamorant (who has a sore right thigh).
After two seasons as Duke Basketball’s floor general and 2020 ACC Player and Defender of the Year, Torre Jones had 18 points and 7 dimes in 30 minutes. The 23-year-old has started all but one of his games for the Spurs this season (13-28) and is averaging 13.3 points and 6.4 assists.

Fortunately for fans of the Jones brothers, the Memphis Grizzlies will resume at 8 p.m. Wednesday when they once again host the San Antonio Spurs. Both could reopen, depending on Morant’s condition.
