Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty will play their home games in 2023 at Paladin Stadium at Furman University. The football club is working on building a multi-purpose stadium to host matches as early as 2024.
“We are proud to call Furman University the official home of the Triumph-Liberty match,” said Chris Lewis, president of Greenville Triumph Football Club, in a release. “Furman is a great partner for Liberty training his site. Furman’s sophisticated athletic facilities, resources and core values are a perfect fit for our organization and we are excited to be playing our home games at the stadium. is built only on that relationship.”
The Greenville Triumph men’s team has played its first four seasons at West Greenville’s Legacy Early College since forming as an upstate professional football club, according to the release. The Greenville Liberty Pre-Pro Women’s Team has joined Legacy Early College for the 2022 inaugural season.
Greenville Triumph Chairman and Owner Joe Erwin praised the hospitality of Legacy Early College and its founder, William Brown.
“I originally planned to stay for only two seasons, but the school was kind enough to let me stay for two more years,” Irwin said in a release. “I am eternally grateful for the memories made on that pitch, the school administrators and staff we worked with, and the amazing academics we met along the way.”
Triumph continued its legacy Early College Internship Program and donated scoreboards, field improvements and stadium equipment to the school, the release said.
Doug Irwin, Vice Chairman and Chief Brand Officer of Triumph, said: “Furman’s team will continue to build on the fan experience that the organization has been committed to providing since its inception. Fans will appreciate the improved Paladin Stadium. We look forward to improved facilities and increased capacity.”
Furman will continue as Greenville Liberty’s training site, and Greenville Triumph will continue to use Bob Jones University as its training site.
“Furman University is honored to partner with Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty, and we are thrilled to host it on campus this season,” Athletics Vice President Jason Donnelly said in a release. “Their mission to use football as a platform to inspire unity and create joy in a way that brings people together in northern South Carolina and beyond complements the goals of our university and expands the reach of Paladin. It helps.”
The Greenville Liberty qualified for their inaugural season of the USL W League in the summer of 2022 and finished undefeated at home. The Greenville Triumph Men’s Pro Team began playing in his USL League 1 in 2019. The men’s team has been to three league finals, including winning his USL League 1 Championship in 2020.
Greenville Triumph kicks off its fifth season at home to the Richmond Kickers on March 25th and releases the full season schedule on January 11th.
