Report: Cueto agrees free agent deal with Marlins, makes first appearance on NBC Sports Bayarea
Another former Giants player found a new home on the same day Brandon Belt reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported late Monday night that former Giants starter Johnny Cueto has agreed to a free agency deal with the Miami Marlins.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported last Wednesday, citing sources, that the Marlins, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds were among the teams interested in Cueto.
Cueto signed a six-year, $130 million contract with the Giants prior to the 2016 season. His two-time All-Star selection, he posted a record of 39 wins, 27 losses, and an ERA of 3.81 in his 614.0 innings during his six seasons in San Francisco.

The 15-year MLB veteran signed a one-year, $4.2 million contract with the Chicago White Sox last season to defend himself after the Giants turned down Cueto’s $22 million option for 2022 following a sluggish 2021 season. He had a record of 8 wins and 10 losses with a 3.35 odds. He pitched in 158.1 innings.
Cueto, who turns 37 in February, will join the fifth team in nine seasons.
