The Dallas Mavericks are officially at the midpoint of the season, winning 23 of their first 41 games.
Their record so far is good enough to move the Mavs to fourth place in the Western Conference, just four games behind the No. 1 Denver Nuggets.
Their effort this week, with the Mavs winning 2-2, was enough to keep them ninth on Sports Illustrated’s power rankings.
“A crushing home loss ended the Mavericks’ seven-season winning streak,” SI wrote. “Boston took Dallas by nearly 30 points at the American Airlines Center and league top scorer Luka Doncic finished with just 23. Doncic’s absence in the loss to the underdog Oklahoma City Thunder once again shows just how valuable he is to the team. Mavs has proven he could throw the same spark he did with Doncic a year ago, but now it’s time to get back to it.
Dallas has a chance to get back to winning ways this week with a four-game road trip against the LA Clippers (Tuesday), the Los Angeles Lakers (Thursday) and the Portland Trail Blazers (Saturday & Sunday).
