Manchester City easily secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup with a 4-0 win over Chelsea, days after the London club condemned them to a league defeat.
A win means the Premier League champions will face Oxford United or Arsenal at the Etihad.
Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring again, just as he had come off the bench in the league match, but this time with a superb free-kick in the first half.
Shortly after he scored a free-kick, City were awarded a penalty after a VAR check for Kai Havertz handling the ball while challenging for an aerial duel.
World Cup winner Julián Alvarez had just kicked a spot kick past Kepa Arrizabalaga to score.
Pep Guardiola’s side continued to cruise, but fluent passing moves from both sides of the pitch scored a third before the interval, with Phil Foden tapping Kyle Walker’s cross.
Shortly before the break, Alvarez came close to the end of Mahrez’s pass and, despite City sailing, was still building up the pressure, resulting in a four.

They kept their feet off the gas in the second half, but Mahrez managed to score another goal with a shot from the penalty spot after Kalidou Koulibaly fouled Foden.
City have beaten Chelsea for the third time this season and Mahrez has scored in every match.
Next for Pep Guardiola’s team is Southampton in the League Cup looking to complete a quad.
