TROY, Alabama (WSFA) – Zay Williams made school history on Saturday night with the Trojans basketball team.

Williams became the tenth player to reach 1,000 career points in the history of the Division I program. He scored his 16 points in his 66-54 Trojan victory over Arkansas. Williams went 5-for-7 shooting that night, including his 2-for-3 from his range.

With a lot of basketball left this season, it’s safe to say Williams will continue to add to his points total, which officially sits at 1006 after Saturday night’s game. He sits in 9th place behind Ramayan Wilson, 12 points behind him, in 8th place.

The school record for most career points is held by Wesley Person who played for the Trojans from 2014 to 2018 and recorded 2063 career points.

Williams has a chance to break the record this season. He currently has 201 points in 17 games, averaging 11.8 points per game.

Williams and the rest of the Trojans’ basketball team are next up against Georgia State at 6 p.m. Thursday at the GSU Sports Arena.
