Manchester City slipped into the fourth round of the FA Cup by beating Chelsea 4-0 at the Etihad on Sunday night.

Pep Guardiola’s team dominated from start to finish, and the winners of Arsenal and Oxford lie ahead in the fourth round of the tournament.

However, Chelsea have lost five of their last seven games and have been eliminated in the third round of the FA Cup for the first time since 1997/98 in 25 years.

Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring with 23rd A minute with a sublime free-kick just beyond the reach of the helpless Kepa Arrizabalaga. Mahrez is in great form and this is his third goal against the visitors this season.

A few minutes later, Kai Havertz unleashed a bizarre punch while trying to clear the ball in the penalty area, leading to a spot-kick for City. Argentine Worlds his cup winner Julian Alvarez won his 2–0 victory.

Graham Potter’s men barely gained a foothold in the game as they were overwhelmed by City with every blade of grass. The home side scored again for 38th A minute for Phil Foden to finish off a fun team move to make it 3-0.

Rodri played a long ball to Mahrez on the right, who slotted it into the pass for an underlap run by Kyle Walker. Foden deftly led right-back Lowcross home. Coty was able to take his four just before halftime, but Alvarez was inches away from a low cross from Mahrez’s right flank.

Chelsea were booed by the fans in the away section, but their performance remained largely unchanged after the interval. Potter’s team, despite the changes they made, looked pedestrian and barely bothered Stefan Ortega with City’s goal.

The home side scored again for 85th A minute after Mahrez converted City’s second penalty. Bernardo Silva’s brilliant reverse following his pass, Kalidou Koulibaly beat Foden with a reckless tackle.

Away fans once again showed their frustration by booing the team at full time. Chelsea’s terrible season continues, with his league standings in 10th place in the Premier League and a move to Fulham for his London derby on Thursday.
