For reference, Hamlin’s doctor said in a briefing from the hospital earlier this week that it was too early to tell whether a heart attack or another heart problem caused the medical emergency.

Whatever the cause, we know Hamlin’s heart didn’t restart on its own. Fortunately, Bills’ medical team acted quickly and saved Damar’s life.

“You never know when something can happen, so the trainers and the doctors and the medical staff have to keep an eye on the game,” Pronger said, adding, “Kudos to them for jumping out so quickly. When you see it fall like that, it’s pretty clear that something is wrong.”

When Pronger collapsed at Motor City, his parents were in the arena to watch the game…just like Dummer’s mother was in Cincinnati. I sympathize with that.
