OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Shay Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder completed their regular season sweep with a 127-110 win over the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
Josh Guiddy had 20 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds for Oklahoma City, shooting 51 percent from the field, and 45.9 percent (17 of 37) from 3-pointers. The Thunder dominated the first quarter, taking the lead as he outscored the Wizards 35-17, with nine Oklahoma City players making at least one of his 3-pointers.
Kyle Kuzma had 23 points, Daniel Gafford had 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Kristaps Porzingis had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Wizards without top scorer Bradley Beal. Biel was diagnosed with a low-grade left hamstring strain on Thursday and will not be re-evaluated for at least a week.
Oklahoma City needed a last second basket from Gillies Alexander to win 121–120 in Washington on November 16, but the Thunder mostly cruised in the rematch, leading by as much as 27 points.
A 14-2 run early in the first quarter gave Oklahoma City a 21-9 lead, and the Thunder’s lead didn’t drop below double digits for the rest of the game. Oklahoma City scored the final eight points of the first half to take a 68–42 lead. This was the Thunder’s biggest halftime lead of the season.
The Wizards scored 38 points in the 3rd quarter, but only scored 18 points. That’s the good part, as they also allowed the Thunder 35 points during the period.
Washington pulled within 14 points, 117-103, with Gafford in the basket with 4:55 left, but rookie Jaren Williams hit two free throws and Gilgeous-Alexander put the basket in with 3:49 left. to end the threat. Washington has made seven of his 24 three-point attempts (29.2%).
