The Los Angeles Dodgers formally cut ties with Trevor Bauer Friday night and named a right-handed player. They have to trade him by next Thursday. Otherwise, the 31-year-old would become a free agent and any team could sign Bauer. We suspect someone will pick him up after the sexual assault allegations, but his Twitter in MLB seems to be torn by the Dodgers’ decision.

Some very different opinions. Some baseball fans believe the Dodgers made a grave mistake in parting with Bauer, who owes him $22 million from Los Angeles for next season. They would pay most of his salary. Then, while others believe Bauer deserves a domestic abuse lawsuit.
No one knows what the future holds for Bauer. But there’s no doubt he can help various contenders with his $720,000 league-low in 2023. The former UCLA standout is in shape for a chance to pitch again in the majors.
Trading by Thursday is nearly impossible. No one gets a $22 million paycheck for the acquisition that infuriates some fans.
Whether or not Bauer was guilty of the allegations, many franchises would shun him. From a baseball standpoint, he’s a decent choice for teams looking to fill their rotation.
We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.
