New York University’s women’s basketball team is doing well, thanks in part to the contributions of talented players from the Garden State.

Division 3 Violet is 10-0 and currently #1 in the nation as polled by D3hoops.com. An impressive season is not over yet. Violet will start the University Athletic Association’s away game against Brandeis University this weekend.

“Obviously, the most important ranking is the last ranking, but we are extremely proud that the program has been recognized by D3hoops.com voters as the #1 team in the country for the first time in the history of the program,” said the team. said the person responsible. The team reached the top of the leaderboard for the first time on December 18th and has held it for the second week in a row. It was the first time in show history that a team had taken the top spot since voting began in 1999.

The Violets have players from nine states, including one from Iceland. His three players on the current roster are from New Jersey. Chloe Teter, his sophomore at Little Silver and Belperecchia at Mendham, and Jordan Janowski, his junior at Woodcliff Lake, who is currently injured.

Pellechia, who participated in Rutgers Prep, was named D3hoops.com’s Team of the Week this week. She leads Violet in assists per game (5.1) and steals per game (2.4). She averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks per game last week at the NYU Holiday She Classic in her second straight win for the team. The sophomore previously secured a spot on her First Team All-UAA and won UAA Rookie of the Year and her UAA Defensive Player of the Year.

New York University's Chloe Teter in Little Silver, New Jersey, is making headway toward the basket in a recent game.

A three-year Red Bank Regional captain, Teter is the Violets’ third-leading player in steals per game (1.3). Janowski, who earned Second Team All-UAA honors before his injury, graduated from Saddle River Day School.

Violet is a team worth keeping an eye on when attending a UAA game this weekend.

Teams like Chicago are also undefeated, with Rochester and Emory losing just one game this season. Tough competition is expected.

Violet’s final game against Bowdoin College was close, with NYU beating the Polar Bears 78-75. Baber said the close match was a good final test for his NYU before conference play.
