NEW YORK (AP) — Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin were among the first rounds of the All-Star selection revealed by the NHL on Thursday night.

Crosby, the longtime Pittsburgh Penguins captain, was named to his ninth All-Star Game, while Ovechkin was a Washington Capitals record 13th.

The league’s hockey operations selected the first 32 All-Stars, one from each team. Fans will pick his 12 finalists (from each division he has 3 skaters and his 1 goalkeeper) and for the first time his Twitter component will be involved.

Reigning Norris Trophy winner and playoff MVP Cale McCarr of the Stanley Cup defending champion Colorado Avalanche was also named. Vegas’ Logan He-Thompson was the first rookie goaltender to make his team an All-Star since Anaheim’s Jon Gibson in 2016.

All-Star Weekend takes place February 3-4 in South Florida.
