ATLANTA — The ASUN conference recognized the winning teams for the fall of 2022-23 on Wednesday. This team consists of one student-athlete from all 14 institutions and recognizes those who have demonstrated excellence both inside and outside the sport. Winners for Life teams are based on Education, Integrity, Student and Athlete Experience, Equity, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for this award, a student-athlete must have competed in an ASUN-sponsored sport during the current academic year and have demonstrated good academic performance in college.

Kelsey Mead led Austin Pea with 648 assists and 6.17 assists per set during the governor’s first season of ASUN volleyball competition. She finished the 2022 campaign ranked 11th in the conference for total assists and 15th for assists per set. Helped the government to achieve 15 overall records. While serving as President of the SAAC, Bellarmine Sr. is also a member of the BU’s Athletics Advisory Board and conducts research in biochemistry in the summer. Jerry Gutierrez led the Central Arkansas men’s soccer team to their second straight ASUN Championship Final appearance, starting in 17 games while recording three goals and an assist during the 2022 campaign. Gutierrez is a member of his UCA SAAC and has done a lot of volunteer work in the offseason with food banks in Colorado and California. UCA Junior holds a 3.26 GPA studying Criminology with a Minor in Psychology. Tucker Schroeder is the team captain and starting center for the Eastern Kentucky football team, helping the Colonel to the ASUN Championship and reach the FCS playoffs for the first time since 2014. Harkabus has been involved in several community service opportunities such as the Virginia 10 Miler (a back-to-school event at a local elementary school), volunteering to clean up athletics and stadiums after soccer games.
Men’s soccer’s first and only five-time First Team All-Conference Selection and three-time Scholar Athlete of the Year, Lipscomb’s Noah Gulden finishes his career with the most starts in ASUN’s history (83). He also serves as program leader for the Bisons of Assists (25). Gulden, who is working on his MBA with a 4.00 GPA, will lead the Bisons to his second consecutive ASUN regular season and championship title in 2022, while MAC Harmany is a Trophy semi-finalist and United Soccer player.
