during halftime of Sunday’s game Commander The Washington State Browns introduced a new mascot for the team.Surprisingly, the organization turned to its history and adopted a pig as its mascot. Washington reveals that the mascot is Major Taddy, a pig in commander’s gear wearing a soldier’s helmet.
Along with the mascot, Washington provided a fact sheet analyzing Major Taddy’s name, dimensions, personality, and style.
For reference, the Commander lists Major Taddy as 6’5 inches and 230 pounds. His uniform is inspired by Washington’s uniform when the franchise won three Super Bowl championships in the 1980s and 90s.
The term Hogs has been part of Washington history since the 80’s. The team’s stout offensive line was called “The Hogs” after then-offensive line coach Joe Bugel mentioned it.
Washington has been touting a new mascot all week, hinting that it’s a pig. So Joe Jacoby, Mark May, John Riggins, Doc Walker, and Fred Dean recently “regained rightful ownership” of the Hogs brand to the Commonwealth. A lawsuit was filed against Snyder in an attempt to obtain the trademark.
