UK 18-year-old ‘future of heavyweight boxing’ Moses Enrico Itauma has signed with Frank Warren to turn pro after sparring with Anthony Joshua and Joe Joyce as a schoolboy

Moses ‘Enriko’ Itauma has signed a long-term promotional deal to go pro with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions at BT Sport.

The 18-year-old heavyweight prospect has already won gold medals for England at the Youth World Championships and Youth European Championships, and is seen as a promising future for the next generation of British boxing.

Itama stars as a 17-year-old amateur who just turned 18 on December 29.

Now an adult, he decided to waste no time and jump into the professional bout by signing Warren, following his light heavyweight brother Karol Itauma (9-0, 7 KOs).

Karol, 22, is also highly regarded as a promising prospect, but Moses emerged from the junior amateur ranks with a rare 24-0 record.

At both the Youth World Championships and Youth European Championships, he won every fight by knockout en route to gold.

Itauma was only 11 years old when he was so close to a split in an amateur contest.

“Frank Warren has been on the circuit for many years and is the right person for the job so it’s exciting for me,” the 18-year-old said of his new contract. .

“For me now it’s about stepping up really quickly.

“I never started boxing to win a world title. I literally kept going to the gym because it was like a small family at St. Mary’s ABC. I did.”

Itauma has already sparred for some big names in British heavyweight boxing, gaining good experience along the way.

“About two years ago, I started growing up feeling that amateur gaming wasn’t for me,” he explained.

“I don’t consider myself special, but I realized I was good at boxing when I started sparring with Lawrence O’Colley when I was probably 14 or 15.

“At the time, I was sparring with Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua, and I held my own when it didn’t work out.

“When I was sparring with Joyce and Ocory, I came straight from school in my uniform and yawned.”

Frank Warren said of the deal:

Itauma will be managed by CSM, a management group recently founded by Frank’s son Francis Warren.
