Purdue’s women’s basketball team returns to action on New Year’s Day after the best start to the new year in four seasons.
The Boilermakers (10-3, 1-2) have only won half a game since they were 10-4 at the turn of the season. The 2021-22 Boilermakers finished 17-15 after losing their Big Ten record (7-11).
But if Purdue wants to improve from last season, they need to beat Sunday’s opponent Wisconsin (4-10, 0-3).
Last season, Purdue lost two to the Badgers, 54-52 in Madison and 63-62 in West Lafayette. The Wisconsin team finished 8-21 with a conference record of 5-13.

The Boilers have beaten Illinois and Texas A&M, lost to Iowa, won two of their last three games, Wisconsin lost four of their last five, and beat Minnesota’s St. Thomas just once.
The two teams have three common opponents this season: Florida, Illinois and Iowa.
