Wide receiver Jaren Brooks will not be in the Gator Bowl and is currently in the NFL Draft. He said he was skeptical of the Notre Dame game before being played.
Brooks caught 33 passes for 504 yards and one touchdown. As the team began to surround star wideout Ant Wayne Wells, he was sometimes a calming presence outside of the Gamecocks.
South Carolina has lost three pass catchers this offseason. Tight ends Austin Stogner and Jaheim Bell entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago and Brooks is now at the pro level.
The team is still awaiting impending NFL decisions from the likes of Wells, quarterback Spencer Ratler and defensive end Jordan Burch. With an important 2023 season in sight, they hope to keep some of these players on the team.
South Carolina lost to Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl, a sour end to an otherwise impressive season for the Gamecocks.
