It seems like every night someone breaks or sets a new NBA record, and on Friday night it was Giannis Antetokounmpo’s turn.
The Milwaukee Bucks hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves and won 123-114. Mostly thanks to Yannis for a great night.
With 43 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists, Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee past Minnesota and became only the third player in NBA history to have at least 40 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists in consecutive games. Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor his 1st and Wilt Chamberlain his 5th to accomplish the feat.
This is the first time since Chamberlain in 1966 that a team had at least 40 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists in consecutive games per release.
In the previous game against the Chicago Bulls, Giannis had 45 points, 22 rebounds and seven assists as his team lost 119-113 in overtime.
With back-to-back 40-point games to close out 2022, Giannis Antetokounmpo currently ranks third in the league in goals scored (32.1 PPG) and fifth in the league in total points scored (962).
He also ranks for 5th in rebounding (11.8 RPG) and tied for 5th in total rebounding (355) this season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has once again established himself as one of the greatest talents in the entire world. Early in the season he wouldn’t be shocked to see his name mentioned in MVP talks alongside Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and others.
The Bucks are now 23-12 this season, following Friday night’s win, and are 2.5 games behind the Eastern Conference leader Boston Celtics.
Milwaukee won’t play another game until Sunday, January 1 against the Washington Wizards.
