Athletes and football clubs pay tribute to legendary Brazilian football star Pele

Transcendent Brazilian soccer superstar Pele died Thursday. he was 82 years old.

It’s impossible to overstate the impact Pele has had on gaming around the world. His ability, success and joy on the pitch inspired an entire generation of football superstars. Even his opponents seemed to love Pele.

Many of these players shared their love for Pele on Thursday. Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe were the first to pay tribute to Pele.

Carly Lloyd, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, also called Pelé “icon, legend, goat.”

Responses weren’t limited to current and former football stars. Athletes from other sports, including Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, also paid tribute to Pele.

Many football clubs also paid tribute to Pele on Twitter.
