Buddy Hield of the Indiana Pacers, who currently leads the NBA in 3-pointers this season, made history Thursday night after hitting a shot from behind the arc in the first three seconds of the game.

The heeled Pacers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 135-126 on Thursday, and the 30-year-old made an effort that included drilling a 3-pointer moment during the game. Pacers center Myles Turner got an assist from the opening chip, according to the Associated Press.

Heald’s shot from the opening chip marked the fastest 3-pointer in league history. The NBA has tracked his play-by-play stats since his 1996-97 season. Featured on ESPN Stats & Info.

ESPN points out that the record broke the record set by Pacers legend Reggie Miller.

In the video below, you can see Hield drilling a 3-pointer from the tip of the opening.

A quick 3-pointer that didn’t require a dribble from the Pacers star came a day after the Indiana team tweeted a video of Tyrese Haliburton’s father John giving Hield words of encouragement in the pregame tunnel.

“Shoot and stop dribbling,” he told Heald. “You don’t have to dribble just shoot the ball. Please?”

“Okay,” Hield replied.
