2023 NFL Draft Sleeper Alert: Stanford QB Tanner McKee

[ad_1]

Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee looks nothing like current Houston Texans starter Davis Mills, who came out of the same alma mater two years ago. Both weren’t necessarily swamped on stat sheets in the same two years as starters under head coach David Shaw, but they showed enough physical skill sets to prove they could play at the NFL’s starter level. .

McKee finished the year with 2,947 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions for a 62.0 shooting percentage. The year before, he completed his 65.0% of passes for his 2,327 yards, 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Neither stat line is by any means eye-opening, but he wasn’t part of a not-so-great team, and the rough cardinal often came out as the best player on his team.

With next-level arms, a typical size (6-6, 230 lbs), and a chance to put it all together in the draft season between Combine and Pro Day, McKee is sure to be the same as he was at the end of his first season. You can launch yourself as high as you can. Round, considering how hungry NFL teams are for the next great quarterback.

Given how his predecessor fared in Houston, it could send a warning signal to 31 other teams to avoid similar pitfalls at McKee.

Note that McKee shows off the strength and size of his arms and starts making headlines around the combine which begins the process of jumping into the minds of both the mock drafter and the team’s big board. He could land anywhere from the first to the fourth round, depending on whether he can turn his career around.
