As college football’s bowl season and transfer portal carousel continue their holiday season surge, Wisconsin has reportedly found a new quarterback.
Badgers are set to land SMU transfer Tanner Mordecai. According to ESPN’s Adam LittenbergOnce registered, Mordecai will become the second quarterback to move to Wisconsin, after Oklahoma’s Nick Evers.
Mordecai, who also started college at the University of Oklahoma, spent the past two seasons with the Mustangs. In over 24 games, he threw his passes for 7,152 yards and 72 touchdowns. He was named to his second team in the All-His AAC in 2021 and this season Davey He was named an O’Brien Trophy semi-finalist.
Wisconsin plans to have a new-look offense in 2023 after hiring head coach Luke Fickel from Cincinnati and offensive coordinator Phil Longo from North Carolina. With the Tar Heels, Longo designed a highly productive offense with dynamic quarterbacks Sam Howell and Drake May.
Wisconsin has struggled to find its offensive rhythm this season, especially in the air. Badgers ranked him 76th on FBS in offensive scoring (his 26.3 points per game) and 115th in his passing yards per game (183.8 yards).
