Shannons Weekend Sixer: High-Octane Picks for NFL and College Football

Game day has arrived, and this weekend’s matchups are heating up. Get ready for some fierce competition and explosive scoring across the board.

Here’s your weekend six-pack to get you started!

College Football Picks for Saturday, Nov 2nd:

Michigan State vs. Indiana -8
Playing at Michigan State with their defense adds pressure for Indiana but the Hoosiers are determined to exploit Michigan State’s weaknesses, especially on the ground. If Indiana’s defense can force Michigan State’s erratic offense into mistakes, it’ll set up their run-heavy offense to control the tempo and put points on the board. Indiana’s recent momentum and depth in their rushing game may keep them ahead by more than a touchdown. Keep in mind that the Hoosiers have won every game so far this season by double digits.

Rice vs. Navy -11
Navy’s relentless offense is primed to test Rice’s defense, which has been vulnerable to high yardage teams. At home, Navy’s disciplined and clock-controlling approach will look to minimize Rice’s scoring opportunities. If Navy’s defense can limit Rice’s passing game, the Midshipmen have a strong chance to cover the spread with steady scoring and time of possession in their favor.

Texas A&M vs. South Carolina +3
South Carolina’s defense, especially their secondary, gives them an edge against Texas A&M’s pass-heavy approach. With a reputation for making key stops, the Gamecocks are resilient in close games and could leverage this matchup to cover the spread as underdogs. If South Carolina’s offense can control tempo with efficient plays, their ability to challenge Texas A&M’s offense, makes them a compelling choice as a home underdog getting 3 points.

NFL Picks for Sunday, Nov 3rd:

Cowboys  vs. Falcons -3: The Atlanta Falcons are favored to win against the Dallas Cowboys, and with Kirk Cousins leading the charge, they bring a solid passing game to the table. Cousins has demonstrated his ability to make quick reads and deliver accurate passes, which will be crucial against a Cowboys defense that has shown vulnerability against the pass this season. Atlanta’s defense, led by standout players like Grady Jarett, has the potential to create turnovers and pressure Dak Prescott, ultimately giving the Falcons the edge to cover the -3 spread.

Eagles -7.5 vs. Jaguars: Philadelphia’s offensive versatility, with playmakers like A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, is tough to match, especially against Jacksonville’s inconsistent secondary. Jalen Hurts’s ability to make plays with both his arm and legs adds an additional challenge for the Jags’ defense, supporting Philadelphia to cover a sizable spread going over the key number of 7 at home.  Bottom link is the Eagles are again a playoff team it appears, the Jaguars definitely are NOT a playoff team this year.  Look for the Eagles to pull away and cover this number in the 2nd half. Eat the chalk and take Philly to the bank.

Rams Moneyline vs. Seahawks: Despite some ups and downs, the Rams have shown resilience and key improvements offensively. The Rams after a shaky start have seemed to have righted the ship and gotten some key players back.  They are in a position now to make a playoff run starting with a win in Seattle Sunday. Matthew Stafford’s chemistry with Cooper Kupp, his experience and command of the offense along with a defense that can contain Seattle’s offensive stars, suggests a definite edge for the Rams. Especially on the moneyline in a close divisional contest.  Take the Rams to win on the Moneyline.

Bonus Pick:

Broncos at +9.5 against the Ravens is appealing as Denver has demonstrated improved offensive chemistry, particularly with Bo Nix. You have to love how you can watch Sean Payton developing Bo Nix and mentoring him, bringing him along week by week. Meanwhile, the Ravens have had moments of vulnerability in their secondary, allowing big plays that the Broncos can exploit. With key injuries affecting Baltimore, this could allow the Broncos to establish a solid run game, controlling the tempo and keeping the score within reach, making the +9.5 spread quite favorable. This is a bounce back game for the Ravens after losing to the Browns last week and I fully expect a Ravens win here but it will be by less than 10 points.

There you have it! With these six picks in hand, your weekend of football action is set. We’ve analyzed every play—underdogs, totals, and more. So, kick back, relax, and let the games do the talking. Good luck, and see you next week!
