Marquee Sports announced Wednesday that former Cub Dexter Fowler is joining the network as a studio analyst.
Fowler announced his retirement on Tuesday after a 14-year career in Colorado, Houston, St. Louis, Anaheim and, of course, Chicago.

His two-year stint at Wrigley Field coincided with the franchise turnaround year of 2015, as well as the team’s legendary 2016 World Series run. And, let’s be honest, “match” greatly underestimates Fowler’s contribution. His on-field play earned him an All-Star nomination in 2016, and he hit home runs once in the NLCS and twice in the World Series.

As a Cubs fan, there aren’t really many ex-players Marquee can add, so consider actively seeking out pre- and post-game coverage and other studio shows. , this is a bit of an exercise, but stick with me.)
But Dexter Fowler? absolutely. Obviously, I’m just a fan, but Fowler’s two-year stint was enough to put him on my all-time favorites list. (And positionally speaking, there’s no contest as to who my favorite centerfielder is.) He just played a brand of baseball that was fun and smart. He does incredibly deep counts, makes highlight plays, and makes the occasional lead-off pop.

Fowler’s recent exposure to sports has always been a strong attribute possessed by analysts. Coupled with a prime clubhouse reputation and plenty of off-field perspective, Fowler should be fun to watch as he smashes a team trying to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
