A 60-year-old man died after being involved in a large brawl that broke out among spectators at a middle school basketball game in Vermont on Tuesday.
After receiving reports of a massive fight involving spectators watching 7th and 8th grade boys from Albara and St. Albans play basketball, state police announced that they had opened the Alvara Community Education school before 7:00 p.m. Arrived at the center.
Police said 60-year-old Russell Giraud of Alburgh, who was involved in the fight, needed to see a doctor after the fight.
Giroud was taken to Northwestern Medical Center in St Albans, where he died. Police have not shared how he was injured in the scuffle.
Giroux’s death is being investigated by state police and the Grand Isle Attorney’s Office. The Vermont coroner’s office will conduct the autopsy.
A video of the big fight shared by NBC 5 shows both adults and children wrestling on a basketball court.
When small fights break out, some parents seem to pull their children apart and some adults on the ground hold on to each other. It is unknown who was on the ground and what caused the explosion in the first place.
The Grand Isle Supervisors Union released a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding the incident, writing: Center and St Albans Municipal School.
The statement continued: We must commit our students and communities to a positive culture that our school community expects and deserves. ”
Surrounded on three sides by Lake Champlain, Alvara, a town in northwestern Vermont, has a population of about 2,100.
