Trade rumors surrounding John Collins have run out this season, and the New Orleans Pelicans are the latest team to associate with the Atlanta Hawks forward.

According to Jake Fisher of Yahoo Sports, “The Pelicans certainly showed interest in Atlanta.”

Fisher called the two teams “natural trading partners”, with New Orleans interested in the additional offense Collins could provide and Atlanta looking for “defensively minded players”.

Collins was also able to provide frontcourt injury insurance for the Pelicans, and Zion Williamson has addressed durability concerns throughout his career.

CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn is expected to be re-evaluated within the next two weeks.

Collins is averaging 13.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game this season while shooting 51.2% of his field goals. He often sits behind Trae Young and Dejounte Murray in Atlanta’s offense, but at his best he’s a double-double threat.

The Pelicans don’t need him to be the dominant scorer given the presence of Williamson, Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum, but he’s likely to have them ahead of the Western Conference playoffs looking to challenge the best team in the league. will give you another option.
