Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo appears to be moving forward with his long-teased plans to turn to boxing. The Brazilian, who retired from MMA in 2022, now has a date to make his in-ring debut and seems to have an opponent.

Combate reports that Aldo will take on Argentina’s Emmanuel Zambrano just two weeks later on February 10th.

Zambrano (0-3) has a professional boxing record of 3 losses, 2 by decision and 1 by knockout. His last outing came in November 2020, where he lost by TKO to Alexis Nahuel He Torres.

Aldo (31-8) retired from mixed martial arts after losing to Merab Dvalishivili in a unanimous decision in August 2022. During his career, the 35-year-old Aldo has defended his UFC featherweight title seven times. He has worked with celebrities such as Frankie Edgar, Chad Mendes, Jang Sung-jung, and Ricardo Lamas.

Alongside his shift to a boxing career, the UFC announced in its latest PPV broadcast that Aldo will be the next fighter to be inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame. Hopefully boxing in his ring treats him the same as his MMA career.
