DeMeco Ryans isn’t afraid to be on the sidelines during a game. The 49ers’ 38-year-old defensive coordinator has shown emotion despite the stress that comes with coaching opponents.
The stakes are high for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, but Ryans hasn’t changed his approach and his defensive players aren’t changing. He will show that he is excited when he makes a big play on the field.
“I’m emotionally involved because I get excited when they play,” Lyons told reporters on Thursday. And when we go there on Sunday the whole world can see it. I’m excited to see what there is and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone play.
“Football is for fun. That’s football and you have to enjoy football and that’s what our members do. You see them flying around, they’re having fun, They play with each other and have fun.Football is always how it should be.It’s always meant to be fun and we’re going to have fun playing football on Sundays.”
Ryans’ approach to football coaching has made him one of the top candidates for head coaches who could get a job this offseason.
Additionally, the former linebacker is held in high esteem by fellow coaches, including Eagles coach Nick Siriani, who took note of how the 49ers’ defense played for the Ryans.
“I see, i see. [Ryans’] We really sold out of players,” Siriani told reporters on Monday. “And when you watch it on TV, you can see their interactions in-game. It’s like, you see them playing hard for him.”

The Ryans’ approach to keeping the 49ers’ defensive units loose and letting their emotions out is likely to prove beneficial in a tense game against the Eagles for a ticket to Super Bowl VII.
