Angel’s farm system is doing well. What has long been one of the team’s major problems is finally starting to improve.
Baseball America’s recent Top 100 Prospects list had two Angels on the list. Also, in Baseball Prospectus’ recent Top 100 Prospects list, he was one of the three Halos up-and-coming top stars. His 2022 first-round pick of the Angels, shortstop Zach Neto, ranked his No. 47, top catcher prospect Logan Ohoppe, his No. 77, and catcher Edgar Kello. It was ranked his 89th.
These three players are the top three prospects in the Angels’ organization. 1st place Ohhoppe, 2nd place Neto, and 3rd place Kero.
Ohoppe was acquired by the Angels at last year’s trade deadline and quickly became the team’s frontrunner. He is expected to play a big role for the team this season, and could even become the starting catcher sooner or later.
As for Neto, he’s been drafted less than a year and has already climbed up to double-A in the minor leagues. Neto will likely spend this season in Triple-A, but an MLB.com reporter surprisingly predicted he could make his debut as early as 2023. he can fill it.
Finally, we have Quero, an international signatory who was equally impressed. While he’s slowly worked his way up in the minor leagues, he’s in no rush to reach the majors at 19.
Angels fans finally have some young players to get excited about. And they could make a big impact on the team as early as this season.
