The 15th UNC Women’s Basketball Team overcame a halftime deficit in Pittsburgh Thursday night with 28 points in the fourth quarter. The Tar Heels went on his 6th straight win with his 72-for-57. Her six-game win streak in the ACC is her most since the 2012-13 season.

The combined “Big 3” of the Tar Heels of Alyssa Usby, Kennedy Todd Williams and Deja Kelly scored 61 of the team’s 72 points. Kelly tallied her 23 on 7-14 shooting, her highest in ACC games this season. Her 10 of her 23 were out in the first quarter only. UNC needed every one to catch up with the Hot Panthers, who shot 57.1% of her shots in her first 10 minutes and led 21-19.

Both teams cooled off in the second quarter, and Carolina’s defense stiffened, but the offense was able to enter the locker room with just 10 points, trailing by four. His six points from Kerry and his five from Todd Williams helped him even the score at 44 heading into the fourth quarter.

Carolina started the final period with a 17-1 run, closing the Panthers to a 61-45 deficit and closing it out with a quick Todd Williams layup. Pitt fielded in the quarter until the 4:05 mark, where he scored no goals. All 17 points for UNC in the run came from Astby, Kerry and Todd-Williams. Todd-Williams finished with his career-high 22 points, just two weeks after his career-high 21 points in Virginia. Astby had 11 rebounds and 16 points for his first double-double of the conference season.

Eva Hodgson was forced to withdraw due to a non-coronavirus illness. That means her sophomore Destiny Adams was promoted to her starting role. She fouled out for no points in her 18 minutes, and her UNC’s only scoring contributions outside of the Big 3 were her six points from Anya Poole and her five from freshman Paulina Paris. Alexandra Zelaya and Teonni Key played but did not score.

Thursday night’s win is very similar to UNC’s last road ACC victory in Virginia, leading up to the 28 points they scored in the 4th quarter. In that game, Tarr his heels also overcame first half and second half slump, relying on dynamic performances from Kelly, Todd his Williams and Ustby. If it ain’t broken, Courtney Banhart and The Tar Heels aren’t going to fix it.

The team will visit Clemson this weekend at 4pm on Sunday. The match will be broadcast on his ACC network. A win would push Carolina’s road record past .500 this season and keep the Tar Heels in the race for the top four seeds in the ACC Tournament. UNC is currently 15-4 overall in conference play where he’s 7-3, but is in a head-to-head tiebreaker with the current No. 1 seed (Duke) and No. 2 seed (Notre Dame) in the conference. there is.
