Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was named a starter for the NBA All-Star Game on Thursday.

The honor is Curry’s ninth All-Star Game in his 14-year storied career. Every year, Curry is named an All-Star as a starter.

With nine All-Star selections, Curry has the second-most selection in Warriors history, surpassing Hall of Famer Rick Barry. Curry is trailing only Hall of Famer Paul her Alidine, who made her game 10 All-Stars in her 10-year career as a member of the Philadelphia Warriors.

From 2014 to 2019, Curry made six consecutive All-Star Game appearances. His winning streak then came to a halt in his 2019-20 season, when a broken hand limited him to five games in his 15-win season with the Warriors. Curry began a new streak of his third consecutive appearance in the All-Star Game as a starter.

Curry joins Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Zion Williamson and Nikola Jokic from the Western Conference.

The 2023 NBA All-Star Game will take place on February 19 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Until then, we don’t know who will play for which team. Captains Giannis Antetokounmpo and James will select their teams in a live televised pre-game segment before the event begins.

Curry, who turns 35 in March, is averaging 29.3 points, a career-high 6.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists. He also has his 48.7% shooting percentage from the field, his 42% percentage at 3-pointers, and his 91.6% percentage of free throws at the line. Curry has appeared in his 33 of his 48 games for the Warriors this season.

A left shoulder subluxation saw the Warriors go 6-5 in 11 straight games from December 16, 2022 to January 7, 2023.

On the brightest stage, Curry always puts on the show. He did so in last year’s All-Star Game as well. Curry scored 50 points last season, made his record 16 3-pointers and earned his first All-Star Game MVP award.

Draymond Green is the Warriors’ frontrunner to join Curry in Utah. Green made it to his fourth All-Star Game last year, breaking a three-year drought. This season, he’s averaging 8.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists while serving as the Warriors’ defensive leader.

The All-Star Game reserves, seven players from each conference selected by NBA coaches, will be announced on February 2.
