NC — The Holly Springs Golden Hawks clung to another home conference victory on Wednesday night with a 57-54 win over the Green Level Gators.
Along the way, they played another home game at Holly Grove Middle and despite repairs to the high school gymnasium, the Golden Hawks remained undefeated in conference play to take another victory.
Green Rebel quickly took a 4-0 lead, but the start of the game belonged to the hosts as the Golden Hawks ended the quarter on a 17-2 run and took complete control of the game.
The Houston Wills and Colin Cool both hit multiple field goals in the quarter to accelerate their runs.
The Gators fought back in the second quarter, with Isaac Eriksen framing 12 of 18 points to settle the game and help make a 5-point game at the break.
The Green Rebels kept battling until the end as sophomore Israel Eatman got into the rhythm with 10 points in the second half.
Holly Springs will be looking to go 10-0 in SWAC play at home on Friday night, while the Green Rebels will be looking for an away comeback in the Apex that same night.
