Last night, the MLB Hall of Fame welcomed both Scott Rolen and Fred McGriff into their sanctuary. Lauren was the only player among the 28 votes who received the 75% of the votes he needed to be enshrined in Cooperstown. Todd Helton was the closest to reaching the threshold with 72.2% of the potential votes.

While the 2023 Vote wasn’t the most exciting in MLB history, players who qualify for the 2024 Vote could generate more interest among fans. Superstars such as Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer, Chase Utley, Matt Holliday, David Wright, Bartolo Colón and Adrian Gonzalez were able to participate in his MLB Hall of Fame ballot for the first time.

Many first-time nominees may be modern-day fan favorites, but only Adrian Beltre is guaranteed a 2024 Hall of Fame inductee. We have an intriguing Hall of Famer with a first-year eligibility.

The Bill James MLB Hall of Fame Monitor uses analytics and statistics to determine a player’s likelihood of reaching Cooperstown. As stated in Bill James’ Metrics, if a player’s rating is above his 100, they have a better chance of being inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. If a player’s rating is less than 100 he will have a harder road, but if it is less than 100 it is not impossible for that player to be voted out.

According to the scoring system, Beltre has a rating of 163, while Utley (94) and Mauer (92) are below the 100 level watermark. Matt Holliday would be an interesting case as Bill James’ number is 110, but we may have to wait a few years before being a potential Hall of Famer.
