Yohe’s 10 Observations: An Incomplete Game Finished Perfectly For Chris Letang, The Penguin

Pittsburgh — It wasn’t a game like Coach.

However, the ending pleased the film director.

Chris Lettang scored twice, produced four points and scored an overtime goal in a 7–6 win against Florida as he returned to the lineup after dealing with a knee injury and the death of his father, giving the Penguins the lead. We interrupted the wildest game of the season. .

But that night belonged to Letang, who wrapped up the game with a dramatic power-play tally.

“He’s a big part of this team,” said Rust. “That was special. Good.”

Letang hasn’t had a particularly great season, but make no mistake, the Penguins miss him badly in the lineup. It was demonstrated early in the match against the Panthers team.

Penguins don’t take letang for granted.

“You try not to,” said Rust. “You know, he has a reason. He can do some things out there that other people can’t. He’s a huge part of what we do.”

Observation after 10 games

• Good for lettuce.

Some people say that family is everything to them, but that’s not what they mean. Letang would say family is everything to him and he means it.

I could feel his emotions when he talked about his return to the lineup right after the game.

In terms of hockey, I thought Letang was pretty good. He wasn’t perfect, but I thought it was a great performance considering how much time he missed. and after a few practices, you can show up and put together a 4-point night.

As Rust said, it’s pretty special.

The Penguins need Letan special for the rest of the season. He covers many of their warts and makes their great players better. It was a performance to be.

• We don’t know much about Jarry’s situation.

All I can say is that everyone in the organization and the team expected Jarry to play. Jarry drove him to the PPG Paints Arena, where he arrived at his usual time and told his trainer that he was not feeling well. It’s unclear if Jarry injured himself skating in the morning or made his body worse at some point during the day.

I asked DeSmith when I learned he was playing in Tuesday’s game.

“About five minutes before I get dressed[for the pre-match warm-up],” he said.

Coach Mike Sullivan has called it an upper body injury, and Jarry is being evaluated.

• This is potentially a big problem.

The Penguins when Jerry plays are a completely different team. When he’s playing he’s 16-5-5 and when he’s not there he’s 8-10-3.

In some cases, advanced analysis may not be necessary. Guessing through the season, they’re a 117-point team when Jarry plays. When he doesn’t, they’re a 74-point team.

Goaltending is important.

Jarry is one of the better starting goaltenders in the NHL, and when he was healthy he has done exceptionally well this season after a slow start.

If Jerry can stay healthy for the rest of the regular season, the Penguins have a very good chance of making it to the playoffs.

But what if he can’t stay healthy? And what if this injury keeps him out of the lineup for a period of time?

That would be a serious problem. DeSmith isn’t quite as perceptive right now. He’s fighting the pack and is too jumpy at the crease.

Hopefully, more information will be available on Jarry on Wednesday.

• Everything about this game was weird. Neither team had a backup goaltender due to injury. How is it in the first place?

Sullivan very accurately called this a “high event” game, but was it really?

Sullivan admitted the game was fun, and it was. However, both teams displayed a corrupt brand of defensive work and puck management. Both goalkeepers – DeSmith and Alex Lyon – struggled hard.

As usual for them, the Penguins didn’t seem particularly interested in defensive work.

Rust admitted that “there are some things that need to be cleaned up”, but Penguin seems to have dismissed this as a fluke.

“There are one or two types of games per year,” says Rust. “I’m glad we won.”

It was essentially a glimpse into 1980s hockey minus the fighting.

• Sidney Crosby was out of the game last month.

However, keep in mind that Crosby now has 9 points in his last 5 games.

Good players have a way of getting points even if they aren’t at their best. Crosby had a very strong game in New Jersey on Sunday and that carried over this time around.

He scored a beautiful backhand goal in the closing four of the second period to even the game.

I’ve seen Crosby score with his backhand many times. He is the greatest backhand player in the history of the sport. But the beauty of this goal was the way Crosby thrust the puck forward before firing the shot. This prevented the Florida defender from earning the position of Captain of the Penguins. Subtleties like that often set him apart. (Early in that period, Florida’s Ryan Romberg caught Crosby’s face with a stick during a skirmish. Judging by Crosby’s reaction after scoring this goal, the incident excited him .)

• Stick tap to Heinen.

He had not scored a goal since 22nd October. Well, he scored a goal in this match and added two helpers.

The good news for the Penguins is that Heinen is known to be a hardcore scorer. who knows? Maybe this will motivate him.

• Heinen was joined on the fourth row by Ryan Pauling and O’Connor.

Honestly, it was the third line in this game. The 3rd line continued to be atrocious, but his 4th line has really sparked in recent games.

Poehling may be the biggest reason for the surge. He has made a real difference in his two games since injury. I love all of his games and I love Pauling and O’Connor’s chemistry. they are big and fast. At the moment they are making a difference.

• Penguins make scary hockey decisions when the situation calls for it.

It was his night, so I hate to pick Letang, but…

With less than three minutes remaining, the Penguins led 6-5. Letang then made things worse by pinching in the Florida goal and making a bad pass. This sparked a Florida counterattack and was the main cause of the tie goal.

Why are you pinching there? meaningless. Penguin needs to improve lead management.

Their defense in this game was really bad.

• Penguin doesn’t want to break Petey and Petey’s defensive pairing.

And for good reason. Jeff Petry and Marcus Pettersson are great mates. As a result, Brian Dumoulin paired with his Letang to return to the top. It didn’t work. I liked most of Letang’s games, but I thought Dumoulin’s games were below average.

Penguin may need to try PO Joseph and Letang. i recommend it.

• Next up is Thursday’s showdown in Washington. The Penguins tied for the top wildcard spot alongside the Capitals.
