Days after trading one of the best bats, the Twins are looking to acquire one of baseball’s best defensive players.

The Kansas City Royals are trading outfielder Michael A. Taylor to the Twins in exchange for a pair of minor league pitchers. per multiple reports.

Taylor, who turns 32 in March, is coming to the end of one of the better seasons of his nine-year career. 254 batting average, .670 OPS, and hit nine home runs in 43 games.

However, Taylor’s main selling point is defense. He recorded the most outs (17) above the average of any outfielder in his 2021 season and helped win his Gold Glove Award. He’s his ninth-best all-outfielder average over the past five seasons (34).

Taylor is expected to become the Twins’ fourth outfielder, joining Byron Buxton, Max Kepler and Joey Gallo. Minnesota has rocked its lineup this offseason, signing Carlos Correa, Christian Vazquez and Gallo, and last week he sent his AL batting his champions for 2022. Luis Ares Marlins as a starting pitcher Pablo Lopez.

The Royals will get 25-year-old lefty Evan Sisk and 23-year-old righty Stephen Cruz in exchange for Taylor.
