Amherst, Massachusetts. University of Massachusetts Men’s Basketball Head Coach Frank Martin announced a new team member on Monday, signing 12-year-old Theodore Bryant through Team IMPACT.

Theodore, who lives with EOE, was officially introduced at a signing day press conference at the John Francis Kennedy Champions Center on Monday, January 23rd. He participates in many activities with the team such as games, practices and other team events.

Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multi-year program that matches children facing serious illnesses and disabilities with athletic teams from colleges across the country. Based on clinical models, Team IMPACT guides symbiotic relationships between teams and children based on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.

“Team IMPACT is thrilled to see Theodore officially joining the Minutemen,” said Team IMPACT Northeast Regional Program Director Daniel Hardy. “We are proud to work with UMass Athletics to create lifelong bonds and life-changing results between student-athletes and Team IMPACT teammates.”

For the past 11 years, Massachusetts has worked with Team IMPACT to match seven children for men’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, hockey, baseball and soccer teams.
