Duke Basketball power forward Kyle Filipowski has won his sixth ACC Rookie of the Week honor, earning more than half of his 11 selections this season, the conference said Monday afternoon. This time, the 7-foot, 230-pound former five-star recruit needed just one game to win the prize.
He beat the current No. 20 Miami Hurricanes in Saturday’s 68-66 win at home. Most importantly, he smashed four free-throw attempts in the final minutes to ensure the still-unranked Blue Devils (14-5, 5-3 ACC) won. am.

Kyle Filipowski’s performance against Miami was his ninth double-double of the season, the most of any freshman in the nation.

Speaking of best, Filipowski’s latest ACC Rookie of the Week award is the 152nd in history with the Blue Devils, tying Paolo Banchero’s six with the Blue Devils last season. That’s 55 more than any other school at the conference.
The 19-year-old from New York is averaging team-highs of 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He and fellow freshman forward Mark Mitchell are the only Blue Devils to play and start in all 19 games.
