University Park, Pennsylvania – The Pennsylvania State Women’s Soccer Program has announced its team awards for the Fall 2022 season.

Five Nittany Lions participated in voting for the Fall Team Awards. Penn State Fall winners are:

Offensive MVP: Allie Schlegel
Defensive MVP: meek seaman
Freshmen: Amelia White
Rodney Swainford Award: Gillian Jennings When Rachel Wasserman

Allie Schlegel He capped off his Penn State career with a great senior season, leading the team and the Big Ten with 13 goals, including four game winners. She also added two assists to her team-high 29 points.


Three of her goals scored as Penn State won its ninth Big Ten Tournament title, and was named the tournament’s Offensive MVP and All-Tournament Team by the conference.


The Parker, Colorado native also earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and All-North Region First Team honors. Her honor was further highlighted by the All-American First Team recognition.


Schlegel was recently drafted by the NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars.


Last year’s co-Freshman of the Year, Seaman was named defensive MVP by his teammates after a solid sophomore season. She started all 23 games in the back line, recording 3 goals and 6 assists.


Hailing from Berlin, Germany, she earned All-Big 10 Third Team and All-North Region Third Team honors in her sophomore year of college competition.


Freshman of the Year was awarded to White, who appeared in all 23 games and started nine of them. She produced her 4 goals and her 2 assists and earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.


She recorded one assist for Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals and scored two goals during the Nittany Lions’ run in the NCAA Tournament.


Jennings and Wasserman were named recipients of the Rodney Swineford Award. The Rodney Swineford Award recognizes the player who best embodies the values ​​and pillars of Penn State women’s football on and off the field.


Awarded since 2007, the award honors Rodney Swineford, the late father of alumnus Megan Monroig.


Jennings and Wasserman finished their college careers at Penn State this season with excellent academic results and All-Academic Big Ten recognition.


Jennings captained the Nittany Lions and won a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. She has appeared in her 20 games in the back line and this season she has started 12 games, scoring 1 goal and she has 1 assist.


Wasserman played in all 23 games in 2022, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

As the 2022 team, the Nittany Lions won 15-5-3 to clinch the program’s ninth Big Ten Tournament title and advance to the NCAA Suite 16 for the sixth consecutive year.
