Most of the time, NBA players answer questions from the media with a stoic face.
They consider root canal therapy to be the most troublesome and painful than root canal therapy. And then there’s Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, hearing the voice of Greek reporter Christos Tartas.
At Sunday’s post-match press conference via Zoom, Adebayo began smiling and nodding when Zaratas asked a question.
After answering, Adebayo further praised Zaratas, who has been a regular on NBA Zoom calls since 2020.
When the press conference ended, Adebayo said, “When Christos’ story is over, we have to finish. Thank you, Christos.”
Based in Greece, Tsalatas works for the SDNA sports website. His strong accent stands out among reporters, but Adebayo values his work ethic. Due to the time difference, Zaratas often wakes up at 5am to attend a press conference.
In 2021, Adebayo praised him during an interview.
“First of all, what time is it over there?” Adebayo asked.
When Zartus replied, “It is six o’clock.”
Adebayo: “Huh?”
Zartus: “Yes.”
Adebayo: “Oh, you are dedicated. You are dedicated.”
