MATTY Harris showed his potential in his latest professional fight with a devastating knockout victory after just 74 seconds.
The Remington heavyweight (4-0) defeated Czech fighter Jiri Surmaji (3-2) at Manchester’s AO Arena with two brutal overhand right hooks and a short, crisp left hook.
Surmaji staggered to the ropes following the onslaught before referee Darren Sarginson waved the contest off to prevent the Czech boxer from taking further punishment.
Harris told Sky Sports:
“I’m disappointed because I want to knock out, not just a TKO, but there’s nothing I can do about it.
“I’m still a puppy. I’m ready for whatever happens next. That’s what my team plans.”
The win was Harris’ third straight win by first-round knockout and the first since last June.
Harris was fighting on the undercard of a grudge match between Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Smith.
Liverpudlian Smith defeated the former world champion for the second time in a row and overwhelmed Eubank by fourth round TKO.
British prospects Fraser Clarke and Richard Liakporue also won, with Ekowe Essmann inflicting his first career loss to Chris Congo to retain the welterweight belt by majority vote.
