Mac McClung attends the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend Festival.
according to athletic Shams Charania, McClung plans to participate in the 2023 Slam Dunk competition. With this, McClung made his mark in NBA history, becoming the first ever G League player to enter his contest to dunk the league.
During the offseason, McClung joined the Philadelphia 76ers on an exhibition 10 contract. Shortly after signing with the Sixers, McClung was waived and the Sixers’ NBA G League affiliate Delaware Blues where he was due to join Coates.
Prior to joining the Sixers Organization Pipeline, McClung had several stints in the NBA and G League. He started his professional career at Texas Tech University and played for the South Bay his Lakers. McClung then joined the Chicago Bulls and their affiliates for second stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and South Bay Lakers.
Since joining the Blue Courts, McClung has appeared in 18 Showcase Cup matches, nine of them. In the regular season, McClung started five games and appeared in a total of seven games.
During the Showcase Cup run, McClung averaged nearly 30 minutes on the floor. During that time, he averaged 17 points per game and wasted 43% of his shots. In addition to scoring, McClung had five rebounds per game and six assists per game.
With the NBA G League regular season off, McClung spent 26 minutes per game on the floor. He increased his goal percentage on the field and wasted 64% of his shots. Currently hitting 42% of his shots from deep. This young guard has scored 18 goals in one game and assisted four in one game.
So far, two prospects have reportedly accepted the invitation, including Shadon Sharp of the Portland Trail Blazers and KJ Martin of Houston.
