3 Teams Should Trade One Of The Marlins’ Pitchers

The free-agent market for starting pitchers is barren. Teams looking to step up their rotation should consider potential trades. One of the notable MLB rumors he’s from Miami is from Florida, where the Marlins are reportedly buying his four starting pitchers.

Pablo Lopez, Trevor Rodgers, Jesus Luzaldo and Edward Cabrera are all in trade talks, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightingale. The franchise is already packed with starting pitchers, with current National League Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara leading the way.

The Marlins are challenged to flip one of these young, controllable arms to bring in a much-needed bat before the season opener. Every franchise out there should consider getting involved with these MLB rumors.

1) MLB Rumors: Why The Cardinals Should Trade Marlins Pitchers

The St. Louis Cardinals are a perfect trade match for the Marlins. Their organization is loaded with both major and minor position players. They have a lot of options for Miami to consider. Their prospects in rotation aren’t that deep. Four of his expected Opening Day starters will be free agents after the 2023 season. Only Steven Matz, the weakest of the five, is under contract after next year.

Any pitcher would be a solid addition for the Cardinals. Lopez is the most talked about, but we have to keep an open mind about his other three. For what it’s worth, Cabrera is the only minor league option out.

From the Cardinals, Alec Burleson might be the top name for the target. He is not expected to start in St. Louis this year. He absolutely mashed in the minors last season. He’s a controllable power hitter that the Marlins can quickly incorporate into their lineup.

St. Louis must include at least one more player in their contract. With Wilson Contreras locked out, catching prospect Ivan Herrera is an additional option to send to Miami to acquire one of the young arms.
