A new year means we’re a little closer to MLB The Show 23. We don’t have an official release date for the game, but we do know that it should be out within the next couple of months. One of the things I look forward to the most outside of launch day is Cover Athlete. Shohei Ohtani was very well-deserved after earning the honor last year and in 2021 he became the AL MVP. Ohtani is a very talented player on both offense and defense, but the town has a new sheriff and another talented athlete ranked in their MLB The Show 23.
MLB has plenty of players who can claim to be on the cover every year. Every year there are players who set records, achieve some amazing feats, take teams to the World Series and win championships. With so much talent, it’s hard to pick just one player each year for this honor, but it’s gotta be done: stand out from the crowd in the 2022 season and be on the cover of MLB The Show 23. He had three players who were most likely to dress.
Julio Rodriguez
One of the most interesting and exciting MLB teams to watch in 2022 was the Seattle Mariners. After 21 years of hard-fought battles, the Seattle Mariners ended their playoff drought thanks to Cal Lowry’s home run against the Oakland Athletics. One of his most exciting MLB players to watch was for the Seattle Mariners and his name was Julio his Rodriguez.
Julio Rodriguez was a rookie last season and the best rookie in MLB. With 28 homers, 75 RBI, 25 stolen bases and a .284 batting average, Julio Rodriguez was no surprise to be his AL Rookie of the Year. We knew that Julio Rodriguez would be a special athlete to raise the stats of these crazy rookies while also being a stolen base threat.
Interestingly, Fox Sports conducted a poll on their Instagram account to see who fans would love to see on the cover of MLB The Show 23. The winner of Fox Sports’ poll was none other than Julio Rodriguez. Julio already has a following among the MLB fan base, and many MLB fans and gamers are looking forward to his cover.
Julio Rodriguez also signed a contract extension with the Seattle Mariners in August 2022. This contract extension keeps Julio locked for a minimum of 12 years until 2034, which could last until 2039. There is a $210 warranty for his first 12 years. Not bad for a kid entering his second year of MLB.
We all know how good Julio Rodriguez is going to be and how good he already is. Julio has to be one of the early favorites, if not the favorites to grace the cover of MLB The Show 23.
