Many professional athletes in other sports enjoy hitting the rink or playing golf in their spare time. Former MLB star Johnny Damon is no exception.

Former MLB star Johnny Damon on Friday Join CBS Sports at the 2023 PGA Show We talked about his love for the sport of golf and how that love grew while he was playing baseball professionally.

“I can’t play baseball forever, but I hope I can play golf for a long time,” Damon said. “We’ve been with them over the years when I was playing baseball, so I just enjoy the camaraderie with my mates. And now it’s on the golf course. We go out and have fun as much as possible.

“I know a lot of people take this game seriously. I never do. I always want to do good. I always want to have fun. Play this game I’m not getting paid to do it, so I want to enjoy it as much as possible.” “

Damon explained that he got into golf early in his baseball career while he was with the Kansas City Royals. However, he didn’t get many opportunities to play during the season. Instead, he played golf during spring training. When he was with the Sox, he didn’t have the pressure that he had to make the ball he club.

Damon played 18 seasons in the majors, splitting his time between the Royals, Red Sox, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland. He retired from the sport in 2012.
