2023 NFL Draft: Arizona Cardinals Move Down, Increase Day 2 Picks in New Mock Draft

With the mock draft season in full swing and many predictors showing who to pick, the 33rd team has decided to change things up for the Arizona Cardinals.

In this mock draft, the 33rd team’s scouting division moves the Arizona Cardinals down and adds a bunch of extra picks.

expected trade

las vegas receive: 1-3, 3-96, 5-167

Arizona Receive: 1-7, 2-38, 3-70, 4-108

Then come back and pick up the edge player.

7. Arizona Cardinals: Myles Murphy, Edge, Clemson (to be traded to Las Vegas)

The Cardinals have a new GM named Monty Ossenfort, and he’s making a big move from No. 3 to get a pick and fill many holes in Arizona’s defense. The Cardinals’ leading edge rusher had just three sacks last season. Murphy, who has posted a 14.5 in the last two seasons, has the potential to double that as a rookie.

The Cardinals need help along the edge and if you add Dan Quinn I think he has a say in who he wants, but if you add Murphy he’s not good at positions, he’s a good elite athlete is brought about.

However, while giving up another 2nd round pick and a predicted comp pick, you’re going to add another 3rd round pick.

In this scenario, we have the upper hand and may be able to add Osiris Torrence from Florida in our next pick. Because he’s still available in this scenario and I’m not sure the Steelers or Texans will get him.

So let’s play this.

1.7 – Miles Murphy, Edge
2.35 – O’Cyrus Torrence, OG

Then it gets interesting… do you force a cornerback in this scenario? Maybe a wide receiver or a defensive line since six were off the board in the first round?

2.38 – Shiaki Ika, DT
3.67 – Deonte Banks, CB
3.70 – Sam Laporta, Tennessee
4.105 – Luke Wipler, C
4.108 Roshon Johnson, RB

Is it worth missing out on Will Anderson Jr.?

The addition of Laporta allows the Cardinals to move on from Max Williams and not rush Zach Ertz back.

Other players are pretty self explanatory.
