happy wednesday.
Halfway through the next round of the 2023 NFL playoffs, he’s also in the middle of a coaching search for the Arizona Cardinals.
So let’s talk about the 2023 NFL Draft and what The Athletic’s Dane Brugler has against the Arizona Cardinals in the first two rounds.
3. Arizona Cardinals: Will Anderson Jr. (Edge, Alabama)
With Kyler Murray going nowhere, Arizona’s new general manager and head coach wants the quarterback off the board in the first two selections.
An excellent pass rusher and run defender, Will Anderson Jr. has a supple, flexible frame with upper-body explosiveness to attack from a variety of positions. His junior his season (10 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, 1 interception) fell short of his notable sophomore year (17.5 sacks, 31 tackles for loss), but he was still the quarterback under pressure. Ranked in the top 5 nationally. J.
34. Arizona Cardinals: Clark Phillips III, CB, Utah
For the Arizona Cardinals, this would be a big win. They deal with edge rushers and cornerbacks.
Everyone knows Anderson Jr. at this point. He’s probably the best player in his 2023 NFL Draft, and making him No. 3 overall could be a game changer.
Some people don’t know Phillips, but he is a baseball player. The 5-10 183-pound Phillips is a little less than ideal starting outside cornerback, but he’s the definition of a bigger player.
He has 2 interceptions and 13 passes defensed in 2021 and backed it up this year with 6 interceptions and 6 passes defensed. His on-ball production is ridiculous and would give the Cardinals a legitimate alpha outside of cornerback.
What do you think of Bruggler’s draft?
Top 2: Bryce Young to Indy, Will Levis to Houston.
