Paying tribute to his two daughters on National Daughters Day, Brandenburg also wrote, But my joy is crushed tonight.

The young lady that was the driving force in Evas decision to run Track at Cal Poly, Shelby Daniele, passed away last night of a brain aneurism [ sic ].

Eva Brandenburg committed herself to the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division 1 school earlier this year, her alma mater Homestead High School Athletic Department posted on X .

She graduated with a masters degree in agriculture with distinction in June, according to her fathers Facebook account .

Daniele racked up recognition as a five-time All-Big West honoree, Cal Polys record holder in womens indoor 200 meters (24.69@), Cal Poly s all-time second-fastest athlete in womens indoor 60 meters (7.62@) in 2023, and Cal Polys all-time third-fastest athlete in womens outdoor 200 (23.57) and joint second-fastest athlete ever in the womens 100 meters (11.58) at the Fresno State Invitational in 2023.

Before joining Cal Polys Mustangs, Daniele received the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State title in the 200m individual race with a time of 23.73 seconds while a senior at Buchanan High School in Clovis, according to the New York Post.
