Roundup: State-ranked Union Springs boys basketball beats Odessa-Montour

Ranked 19th in the state in Class C, Union Springs boys basketball took down Odessa-Montour 71-46 on Friday at home.

Up by 10 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Wolves held the Grizzlies to just 6 points in the period to help secure the victory.

Nevin Brown led Union Springs with a team-high 21 points while Cooper Dechick put in 19.

Rocco Testa scored 15 points and Aaron Johnson totaled 14.

The Wolves are back on the court Tuesday when they travel to take on No.

23-ranked Moravia.

Cato-Meridian 48, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown 19: Dylan McGetrick tallied 12 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists in the Blue Devils' win on the road Friday.

Brody Smith ended with 6 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks, while Embry George had 7 points and 13 rebounds.

Perry Planck put up 3 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, three steals and one block.

Everett Cox concluded with 6 points and six rebounds.

Port Byron 61, Hannibal 45: Two double-doubles led the way for the Panthers on Friday in their home win.

Travis Stuart posted 23 points and 12 rebounds while Nathan Usowski ended with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Sawyer Rooker also poured in 10 points.

Liverpool 60, Auburn 48: In a loss on the road Friday, Johntae Smith recorded a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Maroons.

Zach Johnson scored 10 points, while Ty Clark and Connor Lansbury each dropped in 5.

Phoenix 54, Skaneateles 52: Reid Danforth tallied 15 points, 14 rebounds, five steals, three assists and two steals Friday in the Lakers' away loss.

Jack Peenstra finished with a game-high 21 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Joe Delmonico ended with 5 points, five rebounds and two blocks, while Shea Musso finished with 6 points, two assists and one block.

Candor 54, Southern Cayuga 43: Charli Bennett racked up 27 points, 17 rebounds, six steals and four assists Friday in a losing effort for Southern Cayuga on the road.

Alycia Orona ended with 8 points, two steals and two assists.

Union Springs/Port Byron: The girl and boy Wolves each came away with a home win Friday against Groton.

Jenna Jump led the girls side with a team-high score of 592.

Caroline Smead concluded with a 488 while Bethany Jump had a 477.

For the boys, Matthew Smead and Matthew Howell each ended with a score of 591.

Henry Kinnaman and Dylan Howell finished with scores of 573 and 503, respectively.
